Classes will be held Monday, April 20, Tuesday, April 21, and Friday, April 24
Cost: $15.00 per class, Students $10.00
Time: 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.

Please note that classes will be held at two locations:

  • Monday April 20 and Friday April 24 at September School (September School Community Arts Building is located at 1833 19th St. in Boulder. Enter off Canyon and look for the colorful building on the north side of the street. There is parking in front of the building, beside the building, and on 19th Street. .
  • Tuesday April 21, at the Solstice Center in Boulder (The Solstice Center is located on Third Street (between Pearl and Canyon) immediately behind 302 Pearl Street. There is a limited amount of free parking available on 3rd Street in front of the Solstice Center or in the surrounding neighborhood. Car pool if you can)

Special Events:

Wednesday, April 22nd from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Saturday, April 25

- Rosangela will present a performance with audience participation at the Solstice Center, from 6:30 to 8:00PM. Cost is $10.00.

Tuesday, May 19: Alma, Corazon y Ritmo – at 7:30 , a performance of Afro – Indo – Ibero American Popular Dances by the Macondo Dance Group & Friends at the Boulder Public Library, Carmen Nelson – director

Bio

Rosangela was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and has a Master degree in dance and choreography from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). She acquired training in such diverse techniques as: Martha Graham, Limon, Solo Bar and Classic Ballet.
She studied with Raimundo Bispo Dos Santos (Mestre King), Mercedes Baptista, and Clyde Morgan among others. In 1981 Rosangela served as a dancer and choreographer at Odunde, the dance company of the Federal University of Bahia, while with this group she represented Brazil in the International Festival of Dance in France. In 1989, She became responsible for the technical training and started choreographing for the Bale Folklorico de Bahia, creating pieces that came to identify the unique contemporary interpretation of the traditional dances interpreted by the company.

Since 1995, Rosangela has been collaborating with the North American saxophonist Steve Coleman, visiting countries whose music and dance have roots in African culture such as: Cuba, India, Senegal, Egypt, and Brazil. She regularly participates in dance and music festivals and educational programs for children and adults throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.

    Is registration required for Rosangela Sylvestre’s classes, or is it drop in? I don’t see a place to register.
